New Zealand’s wine growing regions span the
latitudes of 33 and 45 degrees – the equivalent of Alsace to
Spain.
While micro-climates deliver regional nuances,
the climate is predominantly maritime. None of our vineyards is more
than 120 km from the sea; many are on the coast or nearby. The coastal
vineyards experience long sunshine hours (an annual average of around
2200), mild sea breezes and cool night.
It’s an ideal growing environment, with an extended ripening period to
produce balanced, character-filled wines.
